If you're arriving in Bratislava by air, you can jump in an Avis car right at the airport. They're open from eight in the morning, right through to eleven in the evening, Monday to Friday, and 10am until 8pm at weekends. If you’re already in town, no problem, you can drop by their office at Bajkalska 31, open Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm, (weekends 10 until 2) to sort yourself out some wheels (just mention the code "o788355" to get started).

Avis have got a great fleet of cars ready to drive away including the Opal Corsa, Peugeots, the Lexus and Porsches. To book a car online, or to find out more just go to the site, click ‘Display Rental Agreement’ and hit ‘Ask Avis’. Avis’ English language website should be able to answer all your queries and if it can’t, you can contact them directly.

And once you’re all buckled up and raring to go, Bratislava and its surroundings are yours to discover. With a couple of days in the city you could head out into the untamed Slovak countryside and Castle Cachtice, legendary home of the notorious Elizabeth Bathory, the so-called ‘Countess of Blood’ and a real rival to the more infamous Dracula. Blood-curdling stuff!
