The last two Slovak soldiers stationed in Iraq are to return home before Christmas, the Defense Ministry announced this week.

Overall, some 100 Slovak troops took part in operations on Iraqi soil. The Slovaks served under Polish command, and were mainly involved with dismantling land mines.

The majority of the Slovak force departed from Iraq earlier in the year, and the remaining two men are now serving at UN headquarters in Baghdad.

All in all, four Slovak soldiers have died in Iraq.
